Falling Through Ceilings

I knew there had to be a reason I wrote all that coursework and essays and stuff.

I realise now that the reason I needed to know all that rubbish to get my History GCSE was so that, three years on, I could understand this comic. Also the, er, sequel.

Media Studies

My A-Level Media Studies lessons were mental. Well they seemed to be to me, especially at first.

They sat us in front of films about drugs and violence, and usually things that were 18 certificate. Then they got us to write many many essays about them, I suppose so that we could see why they were so amazing. I was sixteen, and very much unused to films of this kind. I went to a very middle class school and I was still watching Disney films on youtube.

But that's not really why they were so difficult for me to grasp.

We'd walk in, and the teacher would put on a film saying something like "This is one of the best films you are likely to see in your life." We'd all get hopeful and then it would start. Get your popcorn ready, it's 10 minutes long (also there is swearing, this is one of those films after all):

And then it would end and they'd say "Wasn't that just the most brilliant thing you've ever seen in your life??"

Now this one in particular came up on my suggested videos section on youtube and watching it REALLY reminded me of my A Levels, partly because we did actually watch it, but also because you just get to the end and think "...what?!"

It was ages before I really understood what made my Media teachers obsess over these weird films. Now I'm slowly starting to understand I suppose, but I'd still rather watch Mulan any day.

Maybe that's why I got a D haha :P

I think I might wear a shamefully ugly hoodie today & NO ONE WILL KNOW! (except you)

Sometimes I purposefully don't get dressed until school kids are on their way home. It's just a celebration of freedom and laziness I think :P

It's kind of weird to think that at this time of year for the last thirteen years I would have been at school, and now I'm sitting in my dressing gown, listening to music and essentially not really doing anything. I used to dream of having a life like this haha.

I will have to start work soon though, so all this joy will be ruined I suppose..

Got you on my radar..

Hahha. First Britney song I've liked in ages. It's not amazing, but it's better than Gimme More (lol)

School tomorrow. Ughh :C

I've got rather a lot of homework that I haven't done.

Am thinking I'll just go in to school to get my timetable then hurry back home again :P

The humans are dead...

Afternoon! :D

I'm in a good mood today, because I have the whole of tomorrow off from school :) Although I can't actually speak properly because of my throat lol.

I normally have Tuesday Week 2 free of lessons, but they're letting us miss tutor period too. Apparently you don't have to go if you don't smoke.

:/ Not sure who exactly is going to actually go... I don't know any smokers who actually go to tutor period anyway lol. But I'm not going to go so everything is wonderful :D

Ooh and I'm going to town to get my DofE pictures lol. None of them are particularly good, but I'll stick them on the Hideaway anyway.

I don't really have anything else to say.. Except that you should all go and listen to The Humans Are Dead by Flight of the Conchords.

For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time

Why are earthquuakes always at night? I think I've only ever been in one during the day.

Actually two - but I didn't even notice one of them xDD

We had an earthquake last night, for those who aren't sure where this is coming from. It woke my parents up (as usual) but me and my brother snored right through (as usual).

OMG I actually snored last night! I was last half asleep, then I sort of heard this funny noise & I was like 'wth is that?' then I realised that it must've been me :P Found it rather funny but was too tired to actually laugh xD

But yeah, earthquakes. The one that I was actually awake for was in the second flat, and someone noticed that the TV was shaking lol. We weren't watching it, it was just making a loud noise. Like when your phone vibrates on a table... but rather a lot louder :P

Other than that though, m'fraid my experience with earthquakes is not even remotely cool or interesting. We did have fun little earthquake drills at school though, where we all clambered under the desks.

I remember sitting in the more boring lessons at SPEC and imagining what would happen if there was an earthquake, and the fact that if I was stuck under my desk, my only company would be Joshua Clayton and my packed lunch hahh. Awh, I miss SPEC.

Then we learnt about earthquakes in Geography when I came back to England, and we had to pretend to do an Earthquake drill xDD That was quite amusing.

And now I leave you with a distant memory from a Turkish beach. Or even, every drop of water in the whole country. I think they were still playing it 3 years after it was first released. For some reason I always connected it to Fanta in my head. They must've stuck it in the advert.

LOL.

My entire computer screen turned upside down last night 8|

It was completely ridiculous, I couldn't do anything. In the end I had to turn my entire monitor upside down so that I could read the instructions to fix it xDD

Apparently during one of my many *head-desk*s, I managed to press Alt+Ctrl+Up and that made it turn upside down (although it depends on your graphics card apparently)

Ooh and yesterday (I forgot to mention!) I went to visit my old primary school!

It was so weird. It probably wouldn't that weird for most people, but I haven't actually been there for like 12 years. I think we visited about 10 years ago, but I remember nothing about that trip except that we had to do all sorts before we were actually allowed in (I think it was something to do with a paedophile)

Now, I'm going to get some breakfast, then get dressed then schooooooooool.

You're my kind of guy, because I like your style and you sound as horrible as me.

Just ate something healthy.

Voluntarily.

Is that world going mad?

Hahhah.

Today I stayed at school for my free periods, and I was looking up peoples names in the german dictionary (or the closest I could find anyway lol) then reading out the English lol.

I think mine was Tom-Cat (who'd've guessed it'd be something cat-related? lol). We did surnames and middle names too (we were sitting there for well over two hours) but I can't remeber mine. We had some funny ones though heh.

I've got a school trip tomorrow! Waheeyyy. It's a drama one though, I'm not going to visit a factory or anything new. Am off to Warwick Arts Centre to see something about being British or something lol.. - Have checked, no famous cast members :(

Btw - I finished series one :P

we will walk in fields of gold...

When I woke up this morning I was going to go to school.
Then I remebered that Tutor Period had been cancelled again.
So I sat watching Dr Who online for a bit.
Then I realised it was getting late, and I actually had to go to school.
Then I started to get dressed and packing my bag.
But I couldn't find my note pad.
So I scrambled around my room for ten minutes. No luck.
Decided I'd have to go without it.
Lesson was supposed to be starting at that moment.
Tripped over some shoes, couldn't find the shoes I was supposed to wear for school.
Finally saw school shoes.
Accidentally stood on (not quite cooled down) straighteners. Ouch.
Put burnt foot in shoes.
Ran downstairs.
Realised I didn't have my keys.
Ran upstairs & got keys.
Went back down and opened front door.
It was raining.
Decided to screw it all and am now sitting here with Eva Cassidy on & trying to calm down a bit.

Let's hope I get better at this "getting to school without nearly dying" thing.

RIP Eva.

Marvin shaves his legs..!

Today I cooked sausages. In a frying pan. On a tiny gas stove. In a Church car park. In the middle of the city.

They were totally awesome liek woah.

Good news: IT'S THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111

Bad news: I'm going to spend all of it working... woop woop.

Have got to go to work in the morning and have heaps of work to do :( WOE IS ME. (yes.)

You may have noticed that my blogs have cool little tags now. They're so cool I think I'll go back and label my old posts too :P xD (because I am sad)

Watched Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses on Youtube yesterday. This obsession with kids films will hopefully end soon xD Maybe when all my baby teeth have fallen out I'll have fewer excuses for my conscience.. lol :P (EDIT: [2.5 years later] According to my dentist I'm keeping this baby tooth forever! I think that says a lot about me haha)

Peace out, kids.

PS. We are officially better at cooking than those who call themselves "the A-Team" :D

Updaaates :)

Bleh. Sorry it's been about 5 days since I last posted, I forget to update this thing lol.

Sooo I finished school yesterday (yay!! :)) I have successfully handed out ALL the cards I wrote and ALL the presents for people at school. Thank you to everyone who gave me a card or a present :) :) :) They will be greatly appreciated :P

Have half-finished the last three presents that I need to sort out. Just need to add a few finishing touches lol xD

Exciting news for all you Closet-Potterfans, Book Sevens title (yes, this is the last one in the series) has been released: Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows. I'm sure you're all on your way now to some Harry Potter forums to tell the world your brilliant theories.

...Or not. All the same, I'm going to re-read one or two of the books soon.

We put up our Christmas tree last night, after going Carol Singing. Feeling rather Christmassy :) Anyone care to dance around the Christmas tree with me?

Don't think there's much else to tell you. Hope you're enjoying the Christmasness of this week.

And as a parting gift, have some candy canes.

sitting in silence.. let's put some music on..

Hey hey hey! It's been a while, and in case anyone has been terribly worried, I don't feel like crap anymore :P

Got a Christmas Card in the post his morning from Meine Schwester, und es war sehr interessant. She's coming home on Satuurdayy wooooo (*sings 'she'll be comin' round the mountain'*)

I got a cool badge thing on Sunday, for being awesome (oh yeah and that thing about my DofE Bronze award...)

On Monday I quit keyboard (but unfortunately, it didn't seem appropriate at the time to shout "YOU CAN'T FIRE ME - BECAUSE I QUIT!!" and storm out..)

Yesterday evening I wrote two History essays.

And today I'm supposed to be writing a Drama one. Which reminds me, I should probably do that...

Mrs. Mcmaster shouted at me today ("I'm very cross, Katrina. Do some work") and I had to stay after school and draw windows.

In History we all got chocolate. WOO (besthistorylessonEVOR.)

We had the last German lesson of 2006!

In Physics Mr Bishop wasn't there, but he wasn't ill because I saw him at the end of school, I think he was hiding because he hates us.

Aaannddd... we had English. And I fell asleep in it, because Sandeep wasn't there and we were supposed to be reading/listening to 1984.

There you go, an update from the Lindley (who rocks)

I'll go do my drama essay now.

xxx
